Gillian Reid

Director of School: Health, Education, Wellbeing and Sport

I am the Director of School for Health, Education, Wellbeing and Sport at DN Colleges Group, where I work closely with Curriculum Leaders, programme teams, the Vice Principal for Higher Education, and the wider Senior Leadership Team to support the strategic development and delivery of college-based higher education.

I have worked within DN Colleges for 16 years, beginning my career at University Centre Scunthorpe in 2010 as a Variable Hours Lecturer on the FdA and BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies programmes. Alongside teaching, I completed a Master’s degree in Primary Education at University of Cambridge while also achieving Early Years Professional Status.

Following the completion of my Master’s degree, I became a permanent member of staff and, shortly afterwards, progressed into the role of Programme Leader. I remained in this position until 2018, when I moved into leadership as Cognate Area Leader for Health, Life and Social Science. Following the merger with Doncaster College in 2019, I became Head of Department for Health, Life and Social Science before progressing into my current role as Director of School in 2021.

I am passionate about creating opportunities for students to go beyond the formal curriculum and engage in meaningful extra-curricular experiences that enhance personal growth, confidence, and global awareness. I particularly enjoy leading international volunteering opportunities for students and have supported projects in both Ghana and India. I also organise conferences and run an interfaith group at University Campus North Lincolnshire, helping to foster inclusive dialogue, community engagement, and wider student enrichment opportunities.
