Dan Bown

Vice Principal: Higher Education

I have been part of DN Colleges Group since 2014, beginning my career within the North Lindsey College community. I initially joined as a Level 1 and Entry Level 3 Course Tutor in Further Education, working closely with students at the start of their learning journeys.

At that time, there was no Higher Education provision in Animal Management, despite clear interest from students who wanted to progress to a higher level while remaining close to home. I was very fortunate to be given the opportunity to develop the Group’s first Higher Education programme in Animal Management. This led to my role as HE Programme Leader for Animal Management, Bioscience and Biochemistry, and my transition into the University Centre.
Following the merger with Doncaster College, further opportunities emerged and I was promoted to Deputy Head of School for Science and Technology. In this role, I had responsibility for Animal, Sciences and Computing, an experience I found both rewarding and professionally enriching.

I later took on the role of Director of the Institute of Technology and Head of Engineering, Science, Technology and Arts, supporting the successful development of the IoT provision. In September 2024, I was appointed to my current role with responsibility for Higher Education across DN Colleges Group.

In my role today, I have overall responsibility for the HE curriculum, working closely with the HE team and our students. I am highly motivated to ensure our Higher Education provision meets the needs of students, employers and our local communities. I feel very fortunate to work alongside a dedicated and inspiring HE team, and with students whose talent and commitment continue to shape and strengthen our provision.
