What do you need help with?
Resetting your password
Before you can reset your password you will need:
- Your college email address
- MFA already configured. If you have not done this yet, set up MFA first.
Your new password must
- Be unique. Not a password you have used before.
- Avoid names, cities or other personal details.
- Be at least 8 characters long.
- Contain at least 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, and 1 number or special character.
Tip. Use three random, unrelated words plus a number and a special character. Easy for you to remember, hard for anyone else to guess.
Your email address format
username@student.dncolleges.ac.uk
For example:
40012345@student.dncolleges.ac.ukDC40012345@student.dncolleges.ac.uk
Doncaster students may need DC before their student number. If your sign-in does not work, try it both with and without the DC prefix.
Worth doing now
Save your new password somewhere you will actually find it again. Your phone’s Notes app works, or save it as a contact named something like “College Password”. If you use a password manager, better still. A quick note now could save you a trip to the LRC later.
Install these apps
Set up your account first, then open Teams and Outlook and sign in.
Setting up MFA
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required to access all college services, including resetting your password. You will need your college email address, your password and your mobile phone.
Go to aka.ms/mfasetup and sign in with your college email address and password.
Add a method
Select Add sign-in method.
Choose Authenticator
Choose Microsoft Authenticator. This is the only method supported, so select this app.
Link your phone
Install the app on your phone, then scan the QR code shown on screen to link it to your account.
Finish
Select Done. You will now use the app to verify future sign-ins.
Connecting to Wi-Fi
Connect to the DNCG WiFi network using your student number and college password.
- Go to Settings → Wi-Fi.
- Tap DNCG WiFi from the list of available networks.
- Enter your student number as your username.
- Enter your college password and tap Join.
- If a certificate prompt appears, tap Trust.
- The Wi-Fi icon appears at the top of your screen once connected.
- Go to Settings → Wi-Fi, or Connections → Wi-Fi on Samsung devices.
- Tap DNCG WiFi.
- Set the configuration fields as below.
| EAP method | PEAP |
|---|---|
| Phase 2 authentication | MSCHAPV2 |
| CA certificate | Do not validate, or “use system certificates” if that is not offered |
| Domain (only if asked) | dncolleges.ac.uk |
| Identity | Your student number |
| Password | Your college password |
- If you see a MAC address or privacy option, set it to Use device MAC.
- Tap Connect and wait a few seconds for authentication to complete.
- Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi and select DNCG WiFi.
- Click Connect, then enter your student number and college password when prompted.
Forgetting a Wi-Fi network
If you cannot connect, forget any old saved networks first — NLC WiFi, DC WiFi, or any other old college network — then reconnect to DNCG WiFi fresh. Do this after a password change too, since a saved old password is a common cause of connection failures.
iPhone / iPad
Settings → Wi-Fi → tap the ⓘ next to the network → Forget This Network.
Android / Chromebook
Settings → Wi-Fi (Or on Samsung devices: Connections → Wi-Fi) → tap or long-press the network → Forget.
Windows
Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → Manage known networks → select the network → Forget.
Signing in to DN Connect
Having trouble signing in to the app? Work through these before queuing for IT support.
Update the app
Make sure the app is fully updated. A recent version is required to access the service.
Choose Microsoft 365
Select Log in using Microsoft 365.
Clear a stuck account
If your account appears in a grey box, tap the three dots and choose Sign out and forget, or just Forget if that is the only option.
Sign in again
Sign in using your college email address and password.
Done
Once signed in, the app should open normally.
Canvas
Forgotten your Canvas password?
Canvas signs in with your college Microsoft account, the same one as your email and Wi-Fi, so there is no separate Canvas password to reset.
Something wrong inside Canvas itself?
Once you are logged in, click the Help icon in the navigation menu to speak with Canvas Support directly. Their technical team can help with certain issues inside Canvas itself.
