North Lindsey Celebrates Staff Members’ Hidden Talents
Staff members across all areas of North Lindsey College have revealed their hidden talents as part of a Love Our Colleges Campaign.

Love Our Colleges is part of a national campaign and for 2020 one of the suggestions was to share memorable moments and best sporting achievements.
Talented staff from across the College’s provision have come forward in droves to reveal some fantastic private passions and memorable events, that help to enrich students’ College experience through their own hidden talents.
Just a few of the revelations have included Duty Officer of the Fitness Suite, Steve Abbey who came forward to share his experiences of running the London Marathon with an admirable finish time of 2 hours and 39 minutes, Director of HE Steve Johnstone completing an Iron Man competition and English teacher Sam Cadman venturing into female power lifting.
Antoune Holmes (Employability Facilitator in Engineering) revealed he won the RAF Light Welterweight Junior boxing championships when he gained his RAF Collars.
Additional hidden talents include Grounds Maintenance staff member Karen Yull, who has been employed by the College for 20 years, used her creative knitting skills to recreate the College’s logo. Drawing up her own knitting pattern and creating the piece over a ten-day period in support of National Love Our Colleges Week.
Karen commented, “It’s a sense of community at North Lindsey College and I enjoy working here, every day is different. I saw the Love our Colleges Week campaign and I wanted to contribute by doing something different.”
Alan Rayment (Fitness Suite Manager) completed the Tough Mudder Challenge which is an obstacle course designed by the special forces to test your strength, stamina and mental grit which brought even more of a personal challenge for Alan as a double amputee. Alan’s work colleague Kiel Cuckson (Duty Officer) has also completed Tough Mudder not only once but twice!
The Curriculum Leader of High Needs and Foundation, Caroline Hawkins likes to hit her targets and her sporting claim is being crowned as a champion Clay Pigeon shooter.
“We are very proud and extremely fortunate to have such a fantastic group of staff who continue to go above and beyond in ensuring our students have the best possible learning experience,” said Scott Wilson (Head of People, DN Colleges Group).
Scott continued, “We continue to be amazed by the hidden talents our staff possess, listening to their unique stories not only inspires the students around them but also our staff too.’
