New bulk liquid storage apprenticeship fuelling the next generation
North Lindsey College and Reynolds Training are looking for employers to get on-board and train the next generation of apprentices at the National Centre for Process and Manufacturing at CATCH in North East Lincolnshire.
Reynolds Training worked in conjunction with the TSA (Tank Storage Association), Cogent and the OPA (Oil & Pipelines Agency) in developing the ‘Bulk Liquid Terminal Technician Specialism’. This has since gained approval for use with the ‘Science Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Standard’.
In a drive to further underpin this apprenticeship and specialism, Reynolds Training developed a new ‘Level 3 Qualification: Bulk Storage Operator Technician’, providing a route to Technical Recognition for the sector via ChemE. It gives a wider focus on process and occupational safety, human factors and emergency response, aligning this with technical operations.
This two-year apprenticeship involves a mixture of classroom-based training and learning (block release), practical skills development at the state-of-the-art training facility and onsite training and competency assessment at the candidate’s place of work.
Jill Cooper, Executive Director Employer Engagement & Projects, DN Colleges Group says, “North Lindsey College, an operating division of DN Colleges Group, is really pleased that the partnership with Reynolds is enabling employers to access a bespoke apprenticeship programme tailored for a specific sector. Using Reynolds and College staff, we offer really competent experienced personnel to deliver a programme for new starts or to develop existing staff into this very niche area. It’s a great example of working with other providers to offer employers the right provision to meet their needs.”
