Every year regional heats are held nationwide, where level 2 and 3 students are invited along to build models and showcase their best skills to try and gain a place at the final in June which this year is taking place at Brooklands College.

As well as our own students taking part we had 13 other Colleges join us from across Yorkshire, the competition started at 9am and judging continued throughout the day with the finalists announced at the award ceremony at 5pm.

We are pleased to announce that our very own Jake Smithhard placed 2nd in the ‘New to Competitions’ category and Kyle McKibbin was very close to being placed in the top 3 for ‘Junior Competition’ they both did incredibly well!

It was a great experience for our students to be involved in such a high profile competition which is paired with plenty of industry sponsors including  Marshall Town, Footprint tools, Tilgear and Oxtools donated tool prizes to the winners and runners up, Weinerberger were the brick sponsors and Mortar Industry Association provided the mortar.

Doncaster College would like to thank the Guild of Bricklayers for allowing us to host the competition and we wish everyone the best of luck for the finals!
