Iwi was appointed as Governor of DN Colleges Group effective of September 2021. She sits on the Audit Committee and Equality and Diversity Committee.
Iwi is from a working class background and has worked in education for over twenty years, in a wide variety of roles. She is a chartered certified accountant, starting her career in finance within professional services in higher education. Iwi moved from professional accountancy into accounting education twelve years ago. Iwi started her academic career in further education, teaching AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) at Joseph Priestley College (now part of Leeds City College). She is currently an Associate Professor (Accounting & Finance division), at Leeds University Business School. Iwi is an impassioned anti-racist and an advocate and activist of equality of opportunity for all. Her scholarly activity and research focuses on intersectionality issues relating to gender/race, with particular focus on student transition and success.
Iwi feels privileged to have the fantastic opportunity to support the amazing and important work of DN Colleges Group. Iwi hopes her broad accounting and further/higher education experience will help contribute as a Governor, to the delivery of outstanding education and enhanced life chances to the young people of our region.
